RESPONSIBILITIES

• Liaising with clients, contractors and senior management members
• Preparing proposals and project cost estimates
• Instrument engineering and design for industrial plants and processes, including instrument datasheets, P&ID design, loop diagrams, installation details, cabinet and junction box design, cable schedules, cable and conduit routings, equipment and cable tray layouts, location drawings, logic control drawings and narratives, control system layouts and interconnections, and control system programming
• Low voltage electrical engineering experience including motor control centre design, lighting layouts, cable sizing, grounding layouts, heat tracing design would be an asset
• Resolving instrument, control & electrical technical issues
• Ensuring standard specifications/procedures and systems are followed
• Assist instrument and control contractor during construction and commissioning
• Other duties, responsibilities and projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (P.Eng) or Diploma in Instrumentation Technology (AScT)
• Registered or eligible for registration with APEGBC an asset
• 10+ years of experience in the chemical or heavy industry, preferably in Acid plant technology
• PLC and DCS experience
• LV motor control experience
• Strong database knowledge with experience writing SQL scripts and VB/VBA routines.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Excel, Word and Outlook
• Experience working with AutoCAD and AutoCAD LSP scripts
• Experience working with INTools (SmartPlant), Comos, or Aveva is considered an asset.
• Ability to work to time constraints and meet tight deadlines
• Ability to work with limited supervision
• Ability to work well in cross-functional team environment
